Communist Society

Return to Societies

Political society centred on putting revolutionary ideas into practice on campus, with regular meetings, reading groups, socials and participation in campaigns such as solidarity with striking staff.

Communism is coming back with force due to the complete failure of the capitalist regime. With no clear future ahead of us, how couldn’t we be curious about exploring other (better) options?

Not surprisingly, Gen Z is learning communism at great speed.

The Communist society is an ideal way to do that. We believe it’s time to educate ourselves politically and organise. And the best way to do that is together.

We hold regular discussions and talks on Mondays (18:00 – 20:00), have a reading group, participate in events on and off campus, organise socials, film screenings, and even trip visits to other universities (meeting with other communists across London and the UK!).

If you feel that capitalism is wrong, then this is the perfect place to understand why and what other options we have. It’s a place where to ask questions and debate. It’s a place where to build long-standing friendships.

We meet, but we also put our ideas into practice. We do so on campus by getting involved in any struggle against exploitation and oppression. We do that out of campus, with active roles in demonstrations (e.g. pro-Palestine national demos) and organised activities. We also connect with other societies, other campuses in London, and around Britain.

Outside uni. We are in open dialogue with the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) and its International, with more than 30 countries across the globe.

So, if you're a City student interested in changing the world, this is a great first step to take. You’ll find all the support you need and a community to work with.
